Description
Offered here is a striking iridescent art pottery vase attributed to Weller Pottery, circa 1905, in the manner of the famed Sicard glaze line. The vase features deep cobalt blue ground with metallic iridescent overlay, producing shifting tones of bronze, green, and violet under light. The organic, flowing surface treatment and luminous glaze are characteristic of the early 20th century Arts & Crafts movement and closely resemble the celebrated Sicard line developed at Weller Pottery. Formed with a gently flared rim, narrow waist, and bulbous lower body, the vase measures approximately 8.5” tall and 3.5” across the base. Condition: Displays beautifully with strong iridescence throughout. Minor surface wear consistent with age may be present. No obvious large cracks or structural damage observed in the provided images. Accompanying the vase is a period newspaper clipping discussing an “Iridescent Weller vase by Sicard, circa 1905,” suggesting prior collector attribution. Weller’s Sicard line is among the most desirable of American art pottery, prized for its rich metallic glazes and artistic experimentation during the early 1900s.
