Description

Antique flow blue porcelain serving bowl featuring a molded scalloped rim with raised Rococo style scrollwork and a central chrysanthemum floral bouquet decoration. The bowl measures approximately 10 inches in diameter and about 2.5 inches tall. Decoration is executed in rich cobalt flow blue on a white porcelain ground with the characteristic blurred halo effect typical of the flow blue process popular in the late 19th century. The interior shows natural age related discoloration and staining consistent with early ironstone and flow blue glazes. Underside bears a crown mark reading John Meir & Son Staffordshire, identifying the English pottery firm active in Staffordshire during the Victorian period. A handsome example of decorative Victorian flow blue tableware suitable for display or use within a collection of English ceramics.
