Original oil on canvas maritime painting by Jackson, Michigan artist Henry Schafer depicting a tall sailing ship navigating through dark rolling seas beneath a pale sky. The composition features expressive brushwork with loose, energetic strokes capturing the movement of the water and the dramatic presence of the ship under full sail. Schafer’s approach combines gestural line work and atmospheric color to emphasize motion and mood across the surface.
