Lot 315:
Description
Antique American salt-glazed stoneware crock bearing impressed maker’s mark “C. Boynton Troy” for Charles Boynton of Troy, New York. The vessel features classic mid-19th century form with applied lug handles, double incised shoulder lines, and hand-painted cobalt tulip decoration to the front. Interior retains original Albany slip glaze. Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall and about 8 1/2 inches across the mouth. Condition shows several rim chips, a visible hairline crack along the body, and typical surface wear from age and use, but remains a desirable marked Troy New York stoneware example displaying strong cobalt decoration.
