Description
1896 atlas titled The County of Saginaw, Michigan: Topography, History, Art Folio compiled and published by Imperial Publishing Company, Topographers, Engravers and Publishers, Saginaw, Michigan. Large format county atlas containing numerous detailed color township maps identifying landowners and property boundaries including areas such as Saginaw, Birch Run, Taymouth, Thomas, Kochville, and surrounding townships. The volume also includes portraits of county officials, city and township residents, photographic plates of prominent buildings and businesses, and a folding color map of the state of Michigan. Bound in original publisher’s cloth boards with gilt title to the cover. Condition shows heavy wear consistent with age including staining to boards, edge wear, loose boards, and tearing to some interior pages with scattered toning and foxing. Despite condition issues, many of the detailed color maps and historical photographic plates remain present and readable. A desirable late 19th century Michigan county atlas documenting land ownership, local history, architecture, and residents of Saginaw County during the period of rapid regional development.
