Description
Antique Persian hand knotted wool rug featuring a classic Kashan style floral medallion design set against a vibrant red field with intricate navy, ivory, and muted blue botanical motifs throughout. The rug displays a detailed central medallion with radiating floral vines and palmettes surrounded by a multi-guard border decorated with repeating floral and vine elements typical of early Persian workshop weaving. Measures approximately 5 feet by just over 3 feet as shown in the photos. Construction appears to be wool pile on a cotton foundation with hand knotted craftsmanship visible from the reverse. Condition shows significant honest age and wear including pile reduction, edge wear, and fringe loss consistent with long use, yet the piece retains strong decorative appeal and desirable antique character suitable for collectors of Persian textiles or interior decorative use.
