Lot 295B:
Description
Early candlestick style desk telephone constructed of brass with separate transmitter and receiver mounted on a pivoting hook arm. The upright column rises from a weighted circular base and supports a flared mouthpiece transmitter with perforated interior grille, while the detachable receiver rests on the side hook assembly. Retains an early cloth wrapped cord with visible age and wear consistent with period examples. The form closely follows early Western Electric candlestick telephones used in offices and homes in the early 20th century. Displays a desirable untouched surface with natural aged patina to the brass and honest wear from use. Measures approximately 11.5 inches tall with a base diameter of roughly 6.5 inches and a receiver length of about 5 inches. A strong early telecommunications display piece ideal for collectors of antique telephones or industrial desk accessories.
