Description
Antique “Superior” cast iron lever tobacco cutter mounted on a shaped wooden base, featuring ornate cast scrollwork and a long curved lever blade designed for slicing plug tobacco at country stores and tobacconists. The base plate is clearly cast “SUPERIOR” and retains its black finish with gold highlighted decoration. Measuring approximately 18.5 inches long by 6 inches wide and about 8 inches tall to the lever, the cutter operates with a heavy pivoting blade that would slice chewing tobacco plugs for customers. Mounted on its original wooden base for stability, this is a classic late 19th to early 20th century general store countertop tool and a highly collectible piece of tobacconiana and country store advertising.
