Lot 291B:
Description
Antique brass coal or ash bucket featuring a classic tapered form with rolled rim and iron bail handle attached through riveted brass mounts marked “14.” The underside retains a maker’s stamp reading “American Brass Kettle Mfg Co.” (partially visible), a known late 19th to early 20th century manufacturer of utilitarian brass household wares. The bucket measures approximately 14.75 inches in diameter by 9.75 inches tall excluding the handle and shows a warm aged brass patina with areas of oxidation and use wear consistent with age. Notable is an old repair or crack visible along the base interior which has been previously reinforced, typical of heavily used hearth vessels. A handsome and authentic early hearth accessory suitable for display with primitive or fireplace antiques.
