Description
Antique Blickensderfer No. 7 typewriter manufactured by Blickensderfer Manufacturing Company, Stamford, Connecticut, U.S.A., mounted on its original oak base and retaining the shaped wooden protective travel case. The machine features the distinctive curved keyboard arrangement and interchangeable cylindrical type wheel system characteristic of the Blickensderfer design. Marked “Blickensderfer Stamford Conn. U.S.A.” with No. 7 designation to the front housing. The typewriter retains its original black keys, metal carriage components, and oak platform base. A notable early portable writing machine dating to the early 20th century and an important competitor to larger office typewriters of the period. Estate condition showing age, dust accumulation, and general wear from storage; operational status not tested. Case measures approximately 13 inches wide with overall height approximately 7 inches when closed.
