Group of seven 19th century literary and poetry volumes including The Book of Gems: The Modern Poets and Artists of Great Britain edited by S. C. Hall (London, Whittaker & Co., 1838); Woman, the Angel of Life by Robert Montgomery (London, 1833); The Course of Time by Robert Pollok (New York, C. Wells); Readings in Poetry: A Selection from the Best English Poets (London, John W. Parker); Poems by John T. Comstock (Hudson, Michigan, 1874); The Improvisatrice and Other Poems by L.E.L. (Boston, 1825); and an early illustrated children’s poetry and songbook with engraved plates. Volumes are bound in period leather and cloth and exhibit typical age-related wear including edge losses, foxing, loose bindings, and page toning. Several books contain early ownership inscriptions including Frederick Farrand and other contemporary signatures. A decorative and interesting collection of Victorian and early American poetry, literary anthologies, and illustrated works.
