Description
Group of three antique religious volumes including an Oxford University Press Holy Bible containing the Old and New Testaments (Oxford, 1872) with inscription to Frederick Farrand Jr. reading “A Birthday Gift From His Dear Father & Mother Oct. 2nd 1874,” a French language La Sainte Bible printed for the American Bible Society and dated 1826, and Some Account of the Rise of the Society of Friends in Cornwood, Northumberland relating to the Quaker family of Cuthbert Wigham (London, Charles Gilpin, 1838). Volumes display period leather and cloth bindings with expected wear, foxing, and age toning, and include early ownership inscriptions including Geo. Robinson and Frederick Farrand indicating 19th century family provenance. An attractive and historically interesting group of early religious works spanning the early to late 19th century including English and French biblical texts and Quaker history.
