Mid-19th century manuscript daybook and business ledger kept by George Robinson of Hudson, New York, commencing January 1859 and containing several years of handwritten entries documenting financial accounts, correspondence notes, mortgage references, and commercial transactions. The volume is titled “Day Book & Minute Book – George Robinson – Ledger commencing Jan 1859” and records numerous payments, drafts on New York bab4323s, real estate and mortgage notes, business correspondence, and address listings. Entries reference various individuals, legal and financial matters, and routine mercantile activity typical of Hudson River commerce during the late 1850s and early Civil War era. Several pages include architectural sketches and inserted documents including a printed engraving fragment and handwritten mortgage satisfaction notice. Bound in period marbled boards with cloth spine, heavily worn from use, measuring approximately 9 x 5.75 inches. A unique primary-source manuscript documenting mid-19th century business activity associated with Hudson, New York.
