Description
Pair of Victorian leather photograph albums containing a collection of 19th century portrait photographs including albumen cartes de visite depicting men, women, and children in period attire. The larger album features an embossed brown leather cover with ornate brass hinges and clasp mounts and retains multiple portrait photographs typical of the Civil War and post-war era. The smaller album displays a gilt-decorated leather cover with decorative brass clasp and contains additional CDV-format portrait photographs. Images appear to date primarily from the 1860s through the 1880s and represent traditional studio portraiture of the period. The larger album measures approximately 6.5 x 5.25 x 2 inches while the smaller album measures about 6.25 x 5.25 x 1 inch. Condition shows expected age wear to the leather covers and pages consistent with antique Victorian photograph albums.
