Lot 215:
Description
Victorian leather photograph album containing a collection of 19th century portrait photographs including albumen cartes de visite and later cabinet card format portraits depicting men, women, and children in period dress. The album features a decorative embossed leather cover with gilt geometric decoration and a brass clasp closure. Interior pages contain multiple portrait photographs typical of the Civil War and post-war era, many mounted in traditional CDV album slots. Images appear to date primarily from the 1860s through the 1880s and include both oval and rectangular mounts. The album measures approximately 6.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide and about 2.25 inches thick. Condition shows typical age wear to the leather cover and album pages consistent with a well-preserved Victorian family photograph album.
