Description
Chinese export porcelain plate decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a stylized prunus blossom and flowering tree scene set within a quatrefoil reserve, surrounded by a dense floral and blossom ground border. The rim is finished with a distinctive brown iron-oxide edge, a feature commonly seen on export porcelain produced for Western markets. The decoration reflects traditional Chinese symbolic floral motifs associated with renewal and longevity. The underside retains simple blue decorative elements around the foot rim and shows typical kiln firing marks consistent with hand-made porcelain production. Wear to the rim and minor surface imperfections consistent with age are present, but the plate retains strong visual appeal and historic character. A classic example of Chinese export decorative porcelain suitable for display or collection.
