Lot 204:
Description
Japanese Imari porcelain scalloped rim bowl featuring a traditional underglaze cobalt blue and iron-red palette with green enamel highlights. The interior centers a floral basket motif within a blue circular reserve, surrounded by radiating panels of stylized foliage and blossoms executed in the classic Imari decorative scheme. The bowl displays a gently scalloped rim with hand-applied cobalt edging and a shallow foot ring typical of export Imari wares produced for Western markets. The underside is unmarked with a double blue line encircling the foot and shows kiln wear consistent with age. Measures approximately 9.75 inches in diameter and 3.75 inches tall. Condition shows age-appropriate wear including scattered glaze wear, rim chips, and a visible rim break as photographed. Likely dating to the late 19th to early 20th century.
