Antique printed broadside titled “A Short But Concise Account of Elizabeth and Mary Chulkhurst, ” commonly known as the Biddenden Maids, depicting the famous conjoined twins said to have been born at Biddenden in Kent in the year 1100 and joined at the hips and shoulders; the sheet includes an engraved illustration of the sisters along with a printed historical account describing their lives and charitable legacy to the parish of Biddenden, with the imprint at the bottom reading “Printed and Sold by W. Chambers, Stationer &c., Tenterden, ” and measuring approximately 9.5 x 15 inches, presented as a single folded broadside with visible fold lines, age toning, and scattered wear consistent with age, offering an interesting example of early English folklore and historical curiosity relating to the long-celebrated Biddenden Maids tradition.
