Lot 141:
Description
Pair of Gorham sterling silver candlesticks, model number 660, featuring classic turned baluster stems and stepped circular bases with traditional candle cups, each measuring approximately 10 inches in height. The undersides are marked “GORHAM STERLING CEMENT FILLED REINFORCED WITH ROD, ” indicating the standard weighted construction with sterling exterior over an internal cement core for stability. The pair has a combined weight of approximately 1318 grams (about 46.5 troy ounces) as shown on the tag, though the actual silver content is less due to the weighted construction. These candlesticks exhibit an elegant, traditional form typical of mid-20th century Gorham tableware and would display well in both formal and decorative settings. Condition shows age-related wear, tarnish, and areas of silver loss to the weighted bodies consistent with use, but the pair remains structurally sound and attractive for display or continued use
