Lot 117:
Description
Group of thirteen early 19th century English Staffordshire transfer decorated plates featuring a soft blue border with scalloped rim, central floral medallion, and delicate vine band surrounding the well. The undersides bear a blue transfer heraldic mark depicting a crowned shield flab4323ed by a lion and unicorn, a style of mark commonly used by Staffordshire potteries during the early to mid-19th century, along with a hand painted red pattern number “7446.” The lot includes thirteen plates measuring approximately 8.75 inches in diameter. Condition shows typical age-related crazing, discoloration to the wells, and a few small edge chips as noted, consistent with early 19th century pearlware or early ironstone tableware that has seen household use. A handsome early English ceramic service group well suited for collectors of Staffordshire pottery, early transferware, or decorative antique table settings.
