Original oil on canvas architectural city view by Jackson, Michigan artist Henry Schafer, depicting the Florence Duomo and surrounding historic buildings in a restrained palette with strong linear draftsmanship and a vivid blue sky. The composition appears to capture the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and adjacent Florentine architecture, rendered with an almost study-like balance of painterly brushwork and graphic structure. Unsigned visible front, unframed, and measuring approximately 24 x 36 inches. A striking Italian scene from Schafer’s travel-inspired body of work.
