Description
Oil on canvas landscape painting by Jackson, Michigan artist Henry Schafer depicting a serene rural scene with open fields, distant treeline, and a vivid blue lake horizon beneath loosely rendered foliage in the foreground. The painting carries a bright natural palette of blues, greens, ochres, and earth tones suggesting a Michigan countryside setting. Canvas measures approximately 24 x 20 inches and is mounted on a Grumbacher New York artist stretcher. From the estate of Jackson, Michigan artist and WWII veteran Henry Schafer, who served with the 13th Armored Division in Italy and later studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, with many works historically displayed and sold through Schafer’s Cleaners in downtown Jackson.
