Lot 320:
Description
Antique American salt glazed stoneware crock featuring a bold hand painted cobalt floral decoration on the front with applied lug handles and a rolled rim. The vessel displays classic late 19th century utilitarian pottery form with incised shoulder bands and a dark Albany slip glazed interior typical of storage crocks used for food preservation. The cobalt design shows a stylized flower with spiral petal elements and a flourish above, providing strong visual appeal. Condition shows age and use including visible hairline cracks running through the base and lower body along with general surface wear consistent with early farmhouse stoneware. Measures approximately 14 inches tall and roughly 9 inches across the opening. A visually striking example of American country stoneware with desirable cobalt decoration, ideal for collectors of early American pottery and primitive kitchen antiques.
