Description
Antique American stoneware ovoid jar featuring bold hand-painted cobalt floral decoration on the shoulder, applied lug handles, and dark Albany slip glazed interior. This example has an attractive bulbous ovoid form with rolled rim and brushed cobalt decoration that displays well from the front. Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall and about 8 1/2 inches across the mouth. Condition shows several substantial rim chips along the top edge along with general surface wear and light imperfections from age and use, but it remains a visually appealing and honest piece of decorated utilitarian stoneware.
