Lot 309:
Description
Antique American stoneware crock impressed “Fulper Bros., Flemington N.J.” featuring a bold cobalt hand decorated bird perched on a branch beneath the incised “4” gallon capacity mark. The form is a classic late 19th to early 20th century cylindrical storage crock with applied lug handles and rolled rim, finished in a warm salt glazed surface with dark Albany slip glazed interior. The crock measures approximately 10 inches tall and about 12 inches across the rim. Surface displays typical kiln speckling and firing character with visible age related wear including several rim chips and minor handling marks consistent with use. A desirable New Jersey stoneware example combining strong maker identification with attractive folk style cobalt bird decoration.
