Description
Large 19th century theological reference volume titled Commentary on the Old and New Testaments by Jamieson, Fausset and Brown, illustrated edition. Bound in brown leather with gilt titled spine reading “Commentary on the Old and New Testaments – Jamieson Fausset Brown – Illustrated.” The volume contains extensive biblical commentary accompanied by numerous engraved illustrations including biblical scenes, ancient architecture, historical landscapes, coins, plants, animals mentioned in scripture, and geographic maps such as Crete and Cyprus. Interior pages feature detailed wood engravings including “Then Came Jesus Forth Wearing the Crown of Thorns, ” along with scholarly notes and concordance material. Bound in leather over boards with marbled page edges. Condition shows age related wear to the leather binding including rubbing to edges and corners, with toning to pages consistent with age while the text and illustrations remain clear and readable. A substantial illustrated biblical reference work from the late 19th century widely used by clergy and theological scholars.
