Description
1937 Benj. Allen & Co., Inc. Annual Illustrated Catalogue for jewelry stores, watchmakers’ tools, and materials, published in Chicago, Illinois at the Silversmiths Building, 10 South Wabash Avenue. The catalog advertises jewelry store equipment, watchmakers’ tools, clocks, sterling silver, silver plated wares, glassware, and optical goods, and includes numerous illustrated trade pages showing parts, watch components, and specialty tools used by jewelers and horologists. Bound in original red cloth boards with gilt border and the Benj. Allen company emblem to the front cover dated 1937. Interior pages contain detailed diagrams, part illustrations, and trade listings used by professional jewelry and watchmaking businesses of the period. Volume shows noticeable wear and staining to the cloth binding with age related toning and scattered staining to endpapers while the interior pages remain generally intact and readable. An uncommon Depression-era jewelry trade catalog reflecting the equipment and supply industry serving American jewelers and watchmakers in the early 20th century.
