Lot 300:
Description
Handsome cobalt-decorated stoneware vase by Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine, signed and dated 1985 on the underside. This well-thrown example features bold hand-painted floral decoration in deep cobalt blue over a warm salt-glazed ground, with additional brushed cobalt accents at the shoulder. The impressed oval stamp reading “Beaumont Pottery – York, Maine” appears clearly at the midsection. The base is incised “1985.” Standing approximately 7 inches tall, the vase has an attractive flared rim and classic New England studio pottery form. Very good condition with no visible cracks or repairs. A fine example of late 20th century Maine studio art pottery, combining traditional salt-glaze technique with lively hand-painted decoration.
