Description
Antique hand made hooked rug featuring a folk art floral design with a central bouquet of flowers surrounded by a geometric border of square panels containing stylized blossoms. The rug displays traditional hooked wool construction on a fabric backing with vibrant colors including red, yellow, purple, and cream set against darker ground panels. This type of decorative rug was commonly produced in North America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a form of domestic folk art using recycled wool textiles. Measures approximately 58 x 36 inches. Estate condition showing age and use including wear to the surface, minor losses, and visible separation and wear to the backing consistent with age.
