Group of five early to mid 19th century books including The Works of William Paley, D.D. Archdeacon of Carlisle with portrait frontispiece, Edinburgh, Peter Brown, 1837; A System of Natural Philosophy by J. L. Comstock, New York, Robinson Pratt & Co., 1843, illustrated with numerous engravings explaining principles of mechanics and science; A Dictionary of Select and Popular Quotations published in Philadelphia by J. Grigg, 1834; A Grammar of Moral Philosophy and Natural Theology with a Summary of the Evidences of Christianity by Rev. J. W. Baker, London, 1811; and Numa Pompilius, Second Roi de Rome from the works of Florian published in Paris by Ant. Aug. Renouard. Several volumes contain early handwritten ownership inscriptions including Frederick Farrand and George Robinson dated to the early 19th century. Estate condition with age toning, foxing, and wear to bindings with some edge wear and detached or loose pages. Books measure approximately 5.25 x 3.5 inches up to approximately 9.5 x 6 inches.
