Collection of antique religious and devotional books including titles such as Examples of Piety featuring biographies of Richard Baxter, John Bunyan, Isaac Watts and Jonathan Edwards (1827), The Christian’s Pattern; or A Treatise on the Imitation of Christ attributed to Thomas à Kempis and published by Rev. John Wesley (London, 1839), Annals of the Poor by Rev. Legh Richmond (London, 1832), Precept Upon Precept issued by the American Tract Society in Boston, The Young Communicant printed in Boston by Gould & Lincoln, The Book of Pleasures (New York, 1850), The Christian’s Daily Bread, a Protestant Episcopal hymnal revised in 1892, and the devotional volume Remember Me: A Token of Christian Affection. Books display leather and cloth bindings with expected age wear, foxing, edge and spine loss, and several period handwritten inscriptions including Frederick Farrand family ownership notes dating to the 19th century. A varied group of early American and English devotional, hymn, and theological literature.
