Early American manuscript chronicle ledger titled “Chronology” containing extensive handwritten entries kept by George Robinson of Hudson, New York, beginning circa 1830 and continuing through the mid-19th century. The manuscript volume measures approximately 12.5 x 8 x 0.5 inches and is bound in period marbled paper boards with leather spine. The interior contains numerous pages of carefully written chronological entries documenting family events, deaths, local happenings, financial dealings, and community activity in the Hudson River Valley. Notable entries reference Hudson residents, Quaker meetings, business transactions, distilling operations, and travel accounts, along with loose inserted documents including a statement of the Citizen Fire Insurance Company dated January 1, 1859, an early manuscript note referencing London surveys of bridges dated 1618, and additional loose manuscript fragments. Several pages include technical sketches and notes related to anthracite cooking stove designs and distillation equipment, suggesting mechanical experimentation or industrial interest by the author. The volume also contains numerous family records including deaths and births of local residents and Robinson family members.
