Description

Chinese porcelain plate decorated in the Imari palette with underglaze cobalt blue and iron red enamels, featuring a central medallion with stylized bamboo, foliage, and birds enclosed within a circular reserve. The surrounding field displays bold scrolling cobalt elements, floral forms, and maple-like foliage rendered in iron red and soft green enamel highlights. The plate is formed with a gently scalloped rim and retains the typical speckled porcelain body and kiln grit consistent with hand-thrown export porcelain production. The underside shows simple blue decorative motifs around the rim and an unglazed foot ring with firing residue typical of Chinese kiln manufacture. There is a visible rim notch and associated hairline from the edge as shown in photographs, along with scattered kiln specks and minor wear consistent with age. A decorative example of Chinese export Imari-style porcelain likely dating to the 19th century.
