Description
Victorian Staffordshire blue transfer porcelain plate produced by T.J. & J. Mayer and marked “Orecon Chinese Porcelain Import, ” dating to the mid-19th century circa 1845–1865. The plate features a detailed chinoiserie landscape scene with pavilion architecture, figures, bridge and stylized foliage surrounded by a richly patterned cobalt border. The underside bears the printed Mayer importer mark used on porcelain wares marketed in the English and American trade during the Victorian period. The piece displays typical age including glaze pops, light surface wear, and scattered staining consistent with early transferware production and use. A fine example of early Staffordshire blue and white chinoiserie decorative ceramics.
