Lot 176:
Description
Group of fourteen United States Kennedy half dollars dating from the 1960s including a mixture of early issues visible in the photographs such as 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969 examples. Coins display circulated condition with light wear, scattered surface marks, and areas of toning from handling and storage while retaining clear portrait and lettering details. The obverse features the portrait of President John F. Kennedy designed by Gilroy Roberts with the reverse presidential heraldic eagle by Frab4323 Gasparro. Half dollars from 1965–1969 were struck in the transitional 40% silver composition following the original 90% silver 1964 issue, making these desirable to both collectors and silver accumulators. The coins shown combine for an overall lot weight of approximately 150 grams.
