Description
Antique religious volume titled The Life of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by Rev. John Fleetwood, D.D., published by John Tallis and Company of London and New York, featuring decorative engraved title pages and illustrations including a detailed portrait engraving of Christ after Murillo. This classic 19th-century Christian work includes narratives of the life of Jesus Christ together with the lives of His Holy Apostles and Evangelists, along with additional devotional writings including Evidences of the Truth of Christianity by Beilby Porteous, The Golden Grove by Jeremy Taylor, meditations on the Lord’s Prayer by Sir Matthew Hale, and a sermon on the death of Christ by Rev. Hugh Blair. The book is bound in its original leather binding with gilt spine lettering reading “Fleetwood’s Life of Christ, ” and measures approximately 11.25 x 9 x 2.75 inches. Interior pages show age toning and foxing consistent with age but remain visually appealing with ornate engraved plates and typography typical of the Tallis publications of the period, presenting a substantial and decorative example of Victorian-era religious literature.
