This finely crafted example features a pierced and chased gallery with foliate decoration, a shaped rim, and a graceful swing handle rising above a circular bowl set on a pedestal foot. The underside bears the M&W maker’s mark along with English sterling hallmarks confirming manufacture by the prestigious Mappin & Webb silversmithing house, long recognized as one of England’s most respected luxury firms. The basket weighs 578 grams of sterling silver, equivalent to approximately 372 pennyweight (dwt) or 18.58 troy ounces.
