Lot 107:
Description
London: Printed by Thomas Baskett … M.DCC.LVII (1757) – That is a 1757 King James Bible, printed by Thomas Baskett, Printer to the King. Small-format, likely a household or personal Bible given the 7.5" x 2.5" size noted. The inscription: "Ann Rakestraw her Bible Given her by her Uncle William Papsmore George Robinson Luton 2nd Feb. 10th 1816 Thos. Farrand." That Luton inscription is excellent provenance — very desirable for collectors who like named early ownership. The binding appears to be original or early calf with gilt tooling to spine — heavily worn but honest.
