Description
Offered here is a beautiful pair of antique LeMaire Paris opera glasses, complete with original fitted case. The eyepieces are marked “LeMaire Fabt Paris, ” identifying the respected French optical maker known for fine 19th and early 20th century opera glasses. This example features gilt brass construction paired with luminous mother-of-pearl paneling, creating an elegant and refined presentation typical of Belle Époque theater accessories. The glasses measure approximately 4” x 1.5” x 3” as noted. Mother-of-pearl panels remain intact and display attractive iridescence. Brass surfaces show warm natural patina consistent with age. Focus adjustment turns as intended. The original fitted case accompanies the piece and shows honest age wear, including surface scuffing and edge wear, but remains structurally sound and displayable. These would have been used for opera, theater, and social events — both functional optical instruments and fashionable accessories of their era.
